I have this problem with keeping plants alive. I love them. I love having fresh greenery in my home, but I kill them all. It’s not on purpose, and I’m not quite sure what happens – yet they all slowly (or quickly) die off. Including succulents! And cacti! What even! So, when I had the opportunity to shop Cost Plus World Market and catch Amanda’s DIY decorative terrarium demo, I immediately purchased some materials and made my very own two days later.
This DIY decorative terrarium project was even easier than I thought. After gathering my materials, it only took about 15 minutes to put it all together. If you’re looking for an easy do it yourself project without any tools, painting, or needing a dedicated workspace, this. is. it. In fact, I made this right on my living room floor! If you have carpet, I’d suggest laying down newspaper or even paper bags from the grocery store for easy clean up.
Do DIY projects make you nervous? Don’t worry, they still make me nervous sometimes, too. This one’s different though, y’all. You can totally make it your own. Don’t like moss? Don’t include it! Use something else for height instead. Not a fan of faux succulents? Grab some other faux flowers! I loved working on this on a perfect fall day and am already more excited than I should be for all things fall; if you are too, here’s a fall guide to kickstart the season. Now let’s get to business. Here’s how to make your own terrarium thanks to Cori’s DIY project guide.
I was thrilled to be able to visit the new Cost Plus World Market in Hyannis, MA last week and pick up everything for my DIY terrarium – and more! T and I initially grabbed a handheld basket to carry around with us while we were perusing the new digs, and after about 15 minutes, we already had a full basket and had to transition to a cart. We proceeded to shop for about an hour and a half because there are SO many incredible items from around the world to look at! We filled up the cart with ease, and oh man did we get some of the coolest stuff. Take a peek!
Now that I’ve got one DIY decorative terrarium under my belt, I’m thinking a little terrarium-making party with friends could be a blast! All you need are the supplies, some snacks, and a signature cocktail – like this fall favorite, the grapefruit bourbon cocktail. What do you think? Ready to whip up your own DIY terrarium – or have you already?
ps. The holidays are still a few months away, but give this terrarium a thought as a gift for the craft-lover in your life!
