A thoughtful guide to weekending on Plum Island off the coast of Newburyport, MA.
A weekend away does absolute wonders. I can’t stress that enough. When life is flying by and you’re feeling like you’re stuck inside working all day or that you’re attached to and, quite frankly, dependent on technology (hi, hello – me too) – it’s important to take a step back. Take a deep breath, literally and metaphorically.
Life is tough. It’s busy. It’s messy. And, it’s constantly pulling you in about a thousand directions at once. I get it.
So, let’s all take a minute to remember that self-love is important and that you fully deserve time to breathe. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in at all, so plan ahead. Weekending on Plum Island was probably the best thing I could have done for myself – AND it included a weekend full of fun, laughs, delicious food, robust wine, and breathtaking ocean views. More to come on that, soon!
Weekending on Plum Island
Ready to treat yourself? Here’s my foolproof guide to weekending on Plum Island and beyond.
- Take time for yourself. Are you treating yourself to a weekend trip with friends/family/your S.O.? Make sure you take time for yourself. Whether that’s a morning coffee outside with a book or a steaming hot bubble bath, make sure you take some time for yourself. Even small bouts of it are so beyond helpful in de-stressing and slowing down.
- Embrace the off-season! I actually prefer traveling during the off-season periods. A winter beach stay? YES PLEASE. 100%. The beach is empty, the inns are quiet, and you really get to relax. It’s a dream of a weekend.
- Don’t make any plans. Yes, you heard me right. Don’t make any plans at all. Instead, nix the itinerary template you use for your trips and instead treat yourself to some quiet time in your room. Take a slow, long walk. Step away from technology. Ask the locals where they’d suggest you grab food. You’re not only bound to explore the town like a local, you’re also not going to be rushing ANYWHERE. When does that happen? If you’re like me, never.
