Planning a little day or weekend trip? Here are 15 things to do in Western Massachusetts!
When my family first moved to Western Massachusetts, I was in my first year at Northeastern, my third year in college (I transferred!). I was a little upset at first, because when I went home, that meant going to a town I never lived in. A town where I knew zero people except for my mom’s then-boyfriend (now husband/the greatest step-dad!) and his family.
And, I’m lucky to know them! But, as an angsty 19-year-old, it wasn’t ideal.
I’m so glad they moved, now. We have an amazing home and we’re right in the center of western Massachusetts, which may not sound super magical if you’ve never been there, but trust me, it is.
When I first started visiting them while I was in college, I didn’t have a car (I still only half have a car as Tim and I split one. We prefer to walk, bike, and/or run to everything we do.) so that meant I was usually hanging around the house. It didn’t give me much of a chance to explore the surrounding towns and small cities. Instead, I stayed cooped up and generally in a bad mood because isn’t every 19-year-old grumpy at some point?
Well, fast-forward to now. I’m 31 and I love going home to western Massachusetts. I mean…LOVE.
It’s so magical, especially around fall and winter. It is quintessential New England and I am here for it. So, to celebrate one of my favorite parts of the world, I rounded up 15 things to do while you’re in Western Massachusetts.
Whew! Now, who’s ready for a trip up to Western Massachusetts!?
