5 Atlanta restaurants to try now
I’m cheating here.
Why? Because this is not so much a review, but rather, a shortlist of the 5 Atlanta restaurants that I want to try right now. A few are new, some have been around for a little while, and one of the bonus restaurants at the end of this post has been an Atlanta staple for years.
Let’s get to the nosh.
Aix + Tin Tin
Aix and Tin Tin are technically two different spots, but they’re often grouped as one. They’re both owned by Nick Leahy and are physically adjacent. Aix offers a twist on the Cuisine de Provence and Tin Tin positions itself as not your grandma’s wine bar. Endearing? I think so.
Lazy Betty
Lazy Betty started as an Atlanta pop-up, and because of it’s increasing popularity, recently moved into a permanent space in Candler Park. Its menus change regularly and with the seasons (and they look SO delicious). Grab a reservation for either the seven course menu in the dining room or the ten course chef’s meal available at the 8-seat chef’s counter.
Little Rey
A Ford Fry spot, are you surprised? Probably not if you know me IRL. Ford Fry is a god in the kitchen and his tex-mex is out of this world. He’s opening up a new spot THIS MONTH(!) called Little Rey and I can’t wait. His latest eatery offers wood-roasted tacos and margaritas. Can you say y-u-m?
The White Bull
The White Bull, a Chef Pat Pascarella venture (formerly of The Optimist), is located in the adorably quaint Decatur. Can you say dinner and an evening walk? Yes please! The White Bull boasts a fairly affordable Chef’s Tasting Menu, which I’m thinking I’ll have to try asap. Who’s with me?
Watchman’s
So, I’ve been to Watchman’s for happy hour and it gets an A+ from me. Cheap (delicious) oysters and intricate, yet approachable, cocktails? I’m so there. And now the weather is warming up which means oyster happy hour, here I come!
My go-to Atlanta staple is Superica. I don’t care that it’s been around for years, it is and will always be one of my favorites. And, now we live ONE BLOCK from it. Dangerous? I think so. Exciting? Yes.
Another new(ish) favorite is Buteco. If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you probably saw I was recently in Brasil – for the sixth time! And, it goes without saying that Brasilian food is one of my favorites. So, if you’re coming to town, I highly recommend you stop at Buteco for..well..one of everything.
If you’re looking for more than just restaurants, here’s an Atlanta City Guide for your next trip to the A!
