A weekend at Lake Burton
Honestly, a weekend at Lake Burton was exactly what the doctor ordered.
And this time, I’m the doctor.
We so desperately needed a weekend away together (with some friends!) by the water. It was a total gift. Feeling so very thankful for our friends who invited us to join them at their family’s home on the water.
And I mean ON the water.
As in, you walk outside off their deck and you’re on their private dock. What a dream!
To be honest, I had never heard of Lake Burton prior to moving to Atlanta.
Heck, I hadn’t even heard of Clarkesville – where it’s located! But now I’m asking myself why, particularly because it’s a gem of a lake. It’s beautiful, big enough to feel like you can truly boat around without seeing the same boats over and over again, and still feels like a hidden piece of paradise.
The lake itself is treelined with mountains surrounding its (usually) fairly still water.
I did my very best to soak it all in: The feeling of my feet treading water, the look of the cotton candy clouds, the sounds of the boat engines as they sped past, and the scent of fresh air surrounding us.
Now, all I have to do is close my eyes and I’m back on that float lazily lounging the afternoon away.
This section might be, more appropriately, considered what to do on ANY lake trip.
So, what’s on your weekend lake trip list?
