When I was in Santa Barbara, my brilliant friends set up a morning after (the wedding) breakfast at the cutest spot – Backyard Bowls. This place was ridiculous. Ridiculous as in healthy, yummy, and also super cozy after a night of celebrating two of the best people.
Of course, I ordered the Island Bowl. It was the best one on the menu.
Okay, this is the only one I’ve ever had, with the exception of trying out T.’s bowl. He ordered Diego’s Power Bowl and it was pretty baller.
That’s a first, right? When have I used baller in a blog post?
Well, there it is.
Anyways, the açai Island Bowl was DELISH and there was no way I wasn’t going to make my own version at home. A copycat Backyard Bowl recipe, if you will.
I’m so happy that the açai bowl trend is finally hitting the states. These are a staple in Brasil and one of the snacks I seriously look forward to every time I’m on my way there. We might be a few years late, but who cares! They’re taking the U.S. by storm and I’m so into it.

That looks SO good! I’ve never tried acai and i don’t think i could find it here – i’ll definitely keep my eyes open though!!
Oh it’s so good! I hope you’re able to find it. I use the frozen Sambazon packets and they’re delicious.

This looks delish! Definitely need healthy food inspiration when it starts getting cold and I just want to curl up with comfort food and hide in my sweaters.
Agreed. I could eat mac and cheese for every meal in the winter if I could. But, this one is a keeper!
