An update on the study in our new home (we’re getting there, almost!)
Our new(ish) home, which truly isn’t so new anymore, is slowly but surely coming along. It’s charming in all the right ways, and part of that adorable old home charm is that storage is…well…minimal. To be frank, it’s nearly nonexistent! So, while we do have a second room (which we didn’t have in the apartment we moved from), we also have already filled to the brim.
An Update on the Study
The study doubles as my office and book storage. Essentially, it’s all book storage. You may think I’m kidding, but alas, I am not. I have a lot of books. So many that they don’t even fit into the 4 IVAR cabinets I picked up from IKEA when we first moved in. And, don’t get me wrong! I’m in no way complaining. I love all my books and I love that we have this idyllic space for them!
So, I have little book stacks piled around the study. I always joked that I want to live surrounded by books, and here I am literally surrounded by books.
Figure out a more permanent solution for the small closet up here. Right now we’ve got a white cutain hanging, which works for now! We may pop a door on there that matches the existing doors to the room.
Update the IVAR cabinets. I’m planning to paint them and pop them onto legs. Because we have super uneven floors (again, that old home charm!), I needed to find adjustable legs that also looked good. Who knew that good looking legs for IKEA furntiture that’s not from IKEA would be so few and far between? Luckily, I found Prettypegs and we’re working together to whip these cabinets into shape.
More storage? We may end up with one more item for storage up here. Because we have so little throughout the house and main living space, it makes sense to utilize this space as much as possible. We do want to be careful that we’re not stuffing it to the brim, though. It still is a workspace and I don’t know about you, but I need my workspace to be as clean as possible so I can actually function.
Carve out the reading nook. I initially ordered Brightech’s Leaf lamp for up here and ended up loving it downstairs in the living room so much that we’re not moving it upstairs anymore. Instead, we’ve got a second one on the way, ha! Thank you to my kind friends at Brightech for sending that second lamp over to me! (Full disclosure: I purchased the first lamp and this article is not sponsored, though they are gifting the second lamp which is SO very sweet of them!).
Whew! We’ve got a lot going on over here! Which rooms do you want to see more of?!
