Meet your new favorite Apple Cider Cocktail, a Fall Spiced Manhattan
You may have seen that I’m going full-out fall this year. From Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread to a sparkly Maple Whiskey Sour (yes, you read that right), I’m really indulging in all the fall things.
And, I love it.
Can you blame me? It’s only the best season of the year, folx.
Now, take my love for fall and multiply it by 10 and you’ll know how much I love books. If you’ve been here for a while you’ve seen a few of my favorite book recs – currently I’m all about spooky fall books. And, you may have also seen that I run an entire Instagram dedicated to my love for books. Yep, as wild as that sounds, it’s true.
So, when I had the opportunity to blend my love for cocktails and my love for books, I was ready to go..like..immediately.
And here we are, the book inspired bevs series featuring reads from one of my favorite imprints, Doubleday. My friends over at Doubleday and I have teamed up to bring you a brand new series that pairs cocktails with the books that inspire them – enter Book Inspired Bevs.
And today, we’re kicking things off with What’s Left Of Me Is Yours (a favorite book so far for the year!) and the cocktail that it inspired – this delicious apple cider cocktail otherwise known as an Apple Cider Manhattan featuring a delicious fall spiced syrup.
The particular scene that inspired this one took place at the beach house scene, where Rina and Kaitarō are whipping up a sultry Italian dinner. It felt like I was IN the scene, and if you’ve read it, you may have felt the same way. It all felt like a warm hug, and I wanted to create an aperitivo for it – something they might have sipped on while prepping their dinner together.
And, voilà – my new go-to Apple Cider Cocktail!
Here’s how to make your very own deliciously Fall Apple Cider Cocktail!
1.5 oz spiced apple cider
1 oz rye whiskey
.75 oz vermouth
.5 oz spiced fall simple syrup
.5 oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 Luxardo cherry, for garnish
1. Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice.
2. Stir to combine and chill.
3. Strain out into a chilled coupe glass.
4. Garnish with a Luxardo cherry.
For the fall simple syrup, simply make a brown sugar simple (one part sugar, one part water) and bring to a boil with your favorite fall spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and a little orange. I’ll be sharing my exact recipe next week!
