5 Atlanta coffee shops you need to visit….immediately
Atlanta coffee shops – I truly love nothing more.
I am so lucky that I get to work for myself, which also means I get to work from wherever my heart desires
I’ve found, over the years, that working in cafés is where I do my best work.
They’re filled with fellow coffee enthusiasts and there’s the perfect level of noise. It also gives me a ton of stuff to look at. Sounds weird, but I’m trying to get better at the 20/20/20 rule, aka looking up every twenty minutes for twenty seconds and looking at least 20 feet away. My eyesight has taken a hit from all these hours on my phone and computer, so working in coffee shops has me looking up quite a bit, luckily
Back to the noise thing – when I was working on my master’s thesis a few years back, I used a site called Noisili to recreate the coffee shop vibe at home. Not even kidding. That’s how much I love the muted sounds of my local cafés.
Muchacho
Coffee. Tacos. Cocktails. I’m so into Muchacho, it’s ridiculous. It’s obviously very on brand for me. They’ve got TONS of outdoor seating, so it’s ideal during fall and spring. It’s also colorful and beautiful, and all the drinks and food are delicious.
Favorite order: Iced latte, agua fresca, and the savory bowl
Revelator Grant Park (née Octane)
Octane, or rather, Revelator in Grant Park is my absolute favorite. I could spend every day in there working the hours away. Their coffee is divine (plus they have oat milk which has been so hard to find!) and it gets even better – they share a space with Little Tart, Atlanta’s best bakery if I do say so myself. This means that you can enjoy your latte with a side of quiche, or perhaps a grain salad – or the best of all, an almond croissant baked with love (you can taste it, I swear).
Favorite order: Iced salted caramel latte with oat milk and quiche from Little Tart
East Pole Coffee Co
East Pole is somewhat of a hidden gem. By that I mean, its location is a bit off the beaten path. But their coffee is everywhere! You’ll spot their coffee in tons of coffee shops around town. If you are heading to their roastery and coffee bar (which I highly recommend!), you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the huge windows, all the natural light you could ask for, and some outdoor seating.
Favorite order: Iced latte and any Happy Camper (healthy!) treats they have on hand!
Chrome Yellow Trading Co.
Chrome Yellow boasts some of the best natural light and coffee in town….oh right, and shopping, too. That’s that “trading” part of the name. From pennant banners to notebooks (and obviously fresh coffee), they’ve got tons of giftable items on hand. Or keep them for yourself! I wouldn’t blame you.
Favorite order: Iced vanilla bourbon latte with oat milk
Neighborhood Café at Parish
You know Central Perk in Friends? That’s what Parish reminds me of. We all know the baristas (one even came to our wedding!) and the regulars all know each other. It’s a place where almost everyone knows your name. It feels like home as soon as I walk in there. It’s quaint, has delicious food and desserts, and lots of coffee and tea options!
Favorite order: Avocado toast with pickled red onions and an iced soy latte with honey
Bonus: Sessions Stand in Marietta, GA
It’s not technically in Atlanta, but I HAD to share about Sessions Stand. Sessions Stand has to be one of the cutest coffee shops I’ve ever laid eyes on. It’s downright adorable! They also have delicious coffee and sweet treats, to boot. Just one more reason to make the short trek up to Marietta.
Now, I have to tell you. I’ve had to hold in my laughter while writing this entire post because I don’t really call them “coffee shops” anymore after spending a month in the Netherlands. “Coffeeshops” is the term given to cannabis shops. So, you’ll often hear me using café instead – the more you know, right?
What are your favorite cafés where you live? Tell me in this Instagram post so I can check it out!
