It finally happened! I feel like we’ve been dreaming up this workshop for so long. And by we, I mean me and the uber talented Christie of Swell Anchor Studio. Here’s how it all started: We met online (like most 20 somethings these days) via blogging and social media (obviously). Then one day we took it to the next level – a Google hang! Christie has been hosting these calligraphy workshops for quite some time now, but had yet to visit Boston. On the other hand, I was right IN Boston, but had never taken a calligraphy workshop! A match made in heaven if you ask me. And so it started, a collaboration on Christie’s Boston Calligraphy Workshop. Her 30th workshop (!!) to be exact. Crazy awesome, right?
Well, after months of waiting and planning and waiting some more, it finally arrived. And it was perfect. First of all, if you’ve never been in a Breather space – they’re divine. I use them for everything I possibly can. They’re outfitted with picture perfect furniture, books, and art – and they’re like private little pods right downtown that are available to everyone! And if you’d like to try out a Breather space for the great price of FREE, use the code “BYGABRIELLA” when booking! You’re welcome.
For the Boston Calligraphy Workshop, Christie outfitted the Breather space into a little studio of sorts. She brought along all of the calligraphy kits, coffee, kettle corn (A+), and the decor. And with Drizly’s help (thanks, friends!) we also had summery Coconut Pineapple Mimosas. I think they were a hit. Mostly because I had three of them. So so yummy and refreshing.
And finally, we ordered custom mini Georgetown cupcakes. They were too stinkin’ cute! We went with vanilla birthday which worked out perfectly as the workshop was on the same day as my blog’s first birthday! Yay! Birthday celebrations everywhere. Half of them had Christie’s logo on them, and half of them had mine. Amazing! I was almost too excited about them.
Overall, everyone had a blast. I’m feeling really good about my calligraphy (not that it looks great now, but that I might actually be able to do it with some more practice!) and already looking forward to being able to use it more. Thank you, Christie, for trekking up here! Congrats on your Boston Calligraphy Workshop being your 30th!
ps. If you’re interested in working with Christie – get in touch with her!
