A champagne cocktail with St-Germain because…why not?
It’s no secret that things are tough right now. I’m not going to sugarcoat it.
Or ignore it, because that’s not right. Instead, I’m using this time and space to focus on…well – whatever positives and light we can find.
Sometimes it feels like I’m grasping at thing air, while other times I think I’ve found the bright side.
It may have been hidden behind a wall of random stuff that keeps ending up in my living room (anyone else? 😅), but it’s there.
Today we’re talking APERITIVO HOUR.
Because gosh darn it, I think we all need it. And no, it doesn’t need to be between 7 and 9 pm because what is time? Do days even exist anymore?
My brain has turned to MUSH during this whole ordeal.
But it IS functioning enough to whip up this cocktail which means honestly anyone can do it. It’s super easy, made with just 4 ingredients, and I’m bringing the recipe to you right now.
I founded it in my new DRINKING FRENCH book by David Lebovitz and oh golly it is divine.
It’s a fancier-than-it-seems cocktail that is both impressive and refreshing. Kind of perfect for a Friday, wouldn’t you say? Or any day really because we are all home ALL THE TIME.
And no, that wasn’t meant to be a slight. It is a fancy ‘lil thing! Just…it isn’t this crazy tedious, complicated cocktail.
In fact, you can make it at home pretty easily – and you probably already have half the ingredients in your kitchen.
Okay, let’s go y’all. Drink up.
I did take one liberty here. I didn’t whip up the elderflower cordial, instead I subbed St-Germain because 1) I couldn’t find elderflowers here and 2) I didn’t even try to find elderflowers here.
I’m sure they’re somewhere, but I already St-Germain on hand so I figured hey, why not?
Add the gin, St-Germain, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker.
Fill with ice and shake until well chilled. Strain into a coupe glass or champagne flute.
Top with champagne, garnish with a lemon twist (if you'd like!).

I hope y’all enjoy this one as much as I did! Let me know if you made it here in the comments or tag me in your post on Instagram (I’m @gabivalladares over there).
