I. Love. Snail. Mail. I even have a card box at home where I store my precious greeting cards that are sitting pretty, simply waiting for a reason to be filled out, sealed, stamped, and delivered. (And now that one song is stuck in my head). So, you can only imagine my excitement when the oh so wonderful Becky of Pop & Circumstance floated the idea of a collab. My answer was YES! SO MUCH YES! And so that brings me to today. Becky’s stopping by with a few tips (and I’m sharing a few of my own!) on how to fancify your snail mail. So, I’m going to go ahead and turn it over to her!
Fancify Your Snail Mail
by Becky: Beyond picking a cute card, there are so many quick and easy ways to embellish an envelope; here are a few ideas to get you started!
Stickers
Stickers are the quickest and easiest way to add some personality to a piece of mail! I keep these Knot & Bow heart stickers in multiple colors on hand to add to the front of my outgoing envelopes.
Wax Seals
Admittedly, this one takes special supplies and a little effort, but it’s definitely worth it. Pick and order a favorite emblem and sealing wax color – we went with a skull and an anchor, but an emblem with your initials would also be a great touch. Dripping wax and stamping to seal the envelope will make you feel like you’re sending an official letter in Game of Thrones! We ordered our supplies from Nostalgic Impressions.
More than paper
Your snail mail doesn’t just have to be a paper note or card. Rather, include a tiny trinket or tchotchke with your letter! Don’t you love finding surprises? Your friends and family probably do, too!
Hand Lettering
Take a local calligraphy class, like Sip & Script, to upgrade your hand lettering skills. Friends will be so impressed to see their envelope addressed in handwritten calligraphy.

Wrap it up Sure, you could mail your letter along in a simple white envelope, but how about grabbing some wrapping materials like ribbons, small strips of fabric, or even string? Wrap your note up then drop it in a mailing folder and it’ll arrive in pristine condition!
Shout out to my basic witches
Now, I’m going to go ahead and send it on back to Becky because this year she’s created her first custom greeting card! YAY!
by Becky: Fall is by far my favorite season and it’s my goal in life to be crowned the Queen of Halloween. The idea for this card came about last fall when my best friend was visiting from Florida. Because she doesn’t get to experience most of the things that we love about fall in New England, we made a list of every basic fall activity and crammed them into one weekend! We visited sites from the movie Hocus Pocus in Salem, went to a pumpkin patch, attended Octoberfest in Harvard Square and more – and started calling ourselves “Basic Witches” which is a play on the more crude term basic *itches. Once I had visualized the card, I knew I wanted to bring it to life! I hand drew the image and text and am so happy to see it come to life. It’s making me extra excited for fall days ahead!
