A little Q&A about our Getaway Atlanta experience
Let me tell you first and foremost, I am not a camping aficionado.
I’m scared of bugs. I love having my iced oat lattes every morning. I do not do well sleeping in ground-level homes.
Just a few of the reasons why I shouldn’t have loved my Getaway Atlanta experience.
But, I did!
Lo and behold, it was the exact weekend I very much needed.
We relaxed, sat by the fire, read in bed, took walks around the “campgrounds”, grilled tasty naan pizzas, indulged on s’mores, put our phones away for TWO days, and simply enjoyed our time away.
I’ve gotten a handful of awesome questions about our experience with Getaway Atlanta, so I thought I’d share them here!
Q: What did you pack? And, what did you forget to pack that you wish you brought?
A: I packed fairly well, at least I think so. Most notably, comfortable clothing, sandals, sneakers for walking/hiking, games, puzzles, books (four, to be exact! More on that here), typical toiletries, food, coffee, wine + beer (duh), s’mores ingredients, skewers, and all of Clover’s things. And, on the flip side, I wish I had brought a cozy bathrobe, slippers, and fuzzy socks! Basically all of my coziest items.
Q: Do they have a tie-up for dogs?
A: They do! We attached Clover’s harness to the long tether they have at each tiny cabin and it worked like a charm! Well, after Clover realized that it meant he sort of had free reign, but not full free reign, ha!
Q: Were there hiking and trails nearby?
A: Yes! And, Getaway highlights those in your pre-getaway emails and again in books in each tiny cabin.
Q: Is there a way to make coffee in the cabins?
A: There sure is. There’s a two burner stove where you can heat up your coffee as you’d like, and I believe they even have packets for purchase in each cabin – or you can bring your own. We picked up some cold brew concentrate (though we typically make our own, we didn’t feel like bringing all of the accoutrements for it!) and a canned latte, just in case.
Q: How comfy was everything?
A: Super comfy. I loved the bed and the linens they had on it. There’s little walking space, but you’re mostly going to be hanging out in the big window bed or outdoors by the fire, anyways. There’s also a table with a bench seat and a chair so you can play games there if it’s chilly or too warm outdoors.
Q: Did you put your phone in the lockbox?
A: In case you haven’t seen it on their site yet, Getaway has a lockbox for your phone in each cabin! We did keep our phones in there (except for when we used Google Maps), but it’s a small little wooden box. I thought it’d be some crazy high tech box that you couldn’t open until you left. Glad it was the former so we could break them out for maps!
Q: Do you feel that you could spend a week there?
A: I think so, yes! It’s tight, but would love to schedule a week-long stay there sometime. It’s a really lovely way to disconnect. I’m particularly interested in booking it to work on a little (offline) passion project of mine. Stay tuned on that one!
Q: Is the cabin air conditioned?
A: Yep! It has AC and heat, so you’re comfortable in any season.
Q: Where are the Atlanta cabins?
A: They’re about two hours north of the city!
Q: Is there a kitchen in there? And, how about a shower?
A: Yes to both. There’s a small kitchen area with a sink, small fridge, and two burner stove. It’s also stocked with kitchen essentials like silverware, a pot, a pan, bowls, plates, cutting board, knives, scissors, towels, cooking utensils, oil, salt, pepper, and a few other items you may find useful during your stay. And, the shower is stocked with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner! And, plentiful running water.
Q: Do you have a referral code?
A: Yes, I sure do! Use GABI25 when booking your next Getaway experience for $25 off your reservation ☺️
