Today’s local gem: Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall.
Remember #thelocalgem? That one series where I feature my favorite local spots?
Well now I’m here in Atlanta and can’t wait to start sharing some of my favorite local gems in Old Fourth Ward and beyond.
If there’s one thing Atlanta’s great at, it’s food.
Atlanta’s also great at art, community, fitness, and all other kinds of things.
But the food.
It’s out of this world. Everything’s good! Like really good.
We try so so hard not to eat out more than once or twice a week, so you can only imagine how much of a challenge that is down here, where restaurants like BeetleCat host a donut brunch or spots as gorgeous as The Optimist exist. OH! And where food halls totally kill it with their food options – just look at Ponce, for example.
Clearly, the food is ridiculously delicious. But for today, we’re talking about Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall.
The most adorable of the BeltLine restaurants has to be Ladybird.
It’s a camp themed spot right in the middle of the BeltLine (on the eastside) with quite possibly the best outdoor seating options in town. And by that, I mean there’s SO much outdoor seating. You can bring your drinks right outside or even grab one from the quirky little trailer outside.
And when it cools down (we’re getting there, really, and I cannot wait), you can still sit outside because Ladybird kindly uses heat lamps out on the patio and get this – they even give you cozy camp blankets to stay warm.
If you do go to Ladybird (which you so should!), I actually love hanging out there for a bit with some snacks. And if you get anything, get the mac & cheese. As if you need an excuse to eat mac & cheese, right? I know I never do. The cocktails are also on point, so be sure to sip on one of those if you’re into it.
What’s your favorite local gem these days? Be sure to tag #thelocalgem on Instagram so I can check it out!
