Lemon Thyme Gin and Tonic
Gin and tonics have been a favorite of mine, despite not drinking many of them lately.
If you’re curious about why, well, it’s for a truly silly reason.
G & T are our initials! Me and my husband, that is. I know, I told you it was silly. But I also think it’s cute!
You’d think we would have had a gin and tonic as a featured cocktail at our wedding…we didn’t. But we DID have three other favorites, one featuring gin! Stay tuned on that front.
For now, because it’s chilly in Atlanta and still winter (which I love. I know, I’m weird. I love the cold. What else is new?) I thought a springtime(ish), refreshing cocktail would be just the ticket. So that’s how we ended up here, talking about a Lemon Thyme Gin and Tonic
A gin and tonic is essentially, that. A cocktail which, by nature, is incredibly easy to make. It’s a classic that isn’t going out of style anytime soon.
With it being so easy to make, it’s the perfect signature cocktail for any evening spent hosting friends, family, colleagues, or whomever else you’re inviting into your home. Plus, when you dress it up with some lemon thyme and basil, it’s a stunner of a cocktail. It’s sophisticated and unfussy – my favorite!
Heat sugar and water over medium until sugar is melted. Remove from heat.
Add thyme and let cool 15 - 20 minutes.
Remove thyme and store in airtight jar.
Add gin, simple syrup, and one basil leaf to your glass.
Add tonic water slowly, then add your ice cubes.
Garnish with a few additional sprigs of Thyme and enjoy!

Do you have any hosting evenings coming up? I’d love to know what you’re thinking about serving! In the meantime, I’ve got a crostini recipe on deck for next week that I’m thinking you’ll like a bunch. If you like bacon…that is. 😉
