If you’re not from Boston, or simply haven’t been to Assembly Row, let me be the first to tell you it’s the perfect little escape from the city. Perfect because (1) it’s unbelievably easy to get to; the orange line drops you off right at Assembly! And because (2) it has everything you could need in one spot – a bar with delicious cocktails? There are plenty! J.Crew and Loft? They’re both here! And a whole bunch of other reasons that I won’t get in to.
Oh right, did I mention J.P. Licks is there? Well, yep, it is. Talk about the perfect summer snack. Or for any season, really. If I can drink iced coffee in the winter, I can definitely eat ice cream then, too.
I ventured to Assembly Row recently with my dear friend, Kelly. We were ready for a full day of shopping and I was equipped with a $200 gift card to spend on ANYTHING I wanted. It’s a dream come true, right? It was the ideal day – kind of like April 25.
We took a few minutes to look at the extensive list of shops and jumped right in. Can you guess what our first two stops were? Loft and J.Crew, of course – classic. My two favorites that certainly never disappoint. In fact, I ended up spending most of my gift card there!
It was such a joyous occasion finally being able to try on spring/summer clothing! I picked up a few skirts and tops and cannot wait to share them with you in an upcoming post! The items I picked up are perfect for the (hopefully upcoming) warm weather months and so affordable. As in, I grabbed two tops, two skirts, a necklace and STILL had plenty left on my gift card.
From there, we went to Kenneth Cole where I found the most darling little strappy sandals and then to David’s Tea. I love tea and have been trying to drink more of it. I discovered their melon drop tea and have been obsessed since. Seriously. It smells (and tastes!) so unbelievably good. It’s embarrassing, but I’ll admit it, I’ve found myself snacking on it! Well…the dried pineapple at least – and it was only twice. But, how ridiculous is that? I felt like such a weirdo, but couldn’t resist giving the dried fruit a try!
It was so amazing having the chance to “escape” the city for an afternoon without the stress of travel. I do love my weekend day trips, but this one was so much easier – and cheaper!
I think I also loved it so much because it reminded me of Atlanta more than anything. It’s not that we frequented the outdoor shops often, but we loved being able to be outside so much. Assembly Row even looks like Atlantic Station – if you’re familiar with the area! I felt as though I had been transported back to my second favorite city. Ahem…take me back, please! I’ve been missing you, Georgia.
Back to business. I did end up maxing out my gift card…which was the whole purpose of the outing – but came home with so much. I was even able to grab a gift for Kelly! She’s a total rockstar and with her newly established events company, she was planning a Derby party for one of her clients. And what does every Derby party need? A hat. A totally awesome hat. We found this one at J.Crew and it worked perfectly! Also…she’s rocking it like no other.
After shopping we ventured over to River Bar and oh my, it was all delicious. I tried each of the three drinks they had out for us – and by tried each, I mean that I had three and then had my favorite one again. Because, why not? This is a no judgment zone.
We dined on delicious appetizers and chatted about our finds. I think I was the one with the most bags; what can I say? When I find a deal, I jump on it! And I found an unbelievable amount of deals. I can’t wait to show you all everything I picked up! Stay tuned.
So, where do you go when you need to escape? Is it the beach or an almost-hidden small town? Perhaps it’s a hike in the woods, or in this case, an outdoor collection like Assembly Row!
