A post-holiday clean up with ZonePerfect’s tasty nutrition bars. Please note, this post is sponsored by ZonePerfect. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Here it is, we’ve found ourselves at the beginning of a brand new year. Welcome to 1017! A new year means something different to each and every one of us, and for me it means the year of intention. I’m hoping to be more intentional with my time and energy. I want to be more intentional with getting an appropriate amount of sleep. I want to be more intentional with what I’m consuming.
The post-holiday clean up is tough. Indulging during the holiday season is oh so easy (and delicious – am I right?), and getting back into the swing of things is challenging, to say the least. So, I’m making it easy (easier) this year by breaking it up into 3 specific goals: Low-impact exercise, stocking up on smart snacks, and intentional meal planning.
Low-impact exercise
No matter how hard I try, I really dislike exercising indoors. I try to get myself to the gym for a few days, then it fizzles out because I’m so uninterested in working out at the gym. So, that puts me in a predicament where I’m not exercising at all.
So, I like to get outside and get some low-impact exercise. Yes, even in the winter! I bundle up and head out whenever it’s sunny to get some biking in. It’s a form of exercise that I really enjoy, so I do my best to capitalize on that.
I also like to get some exercise in by walking. Sounds simple, right? Well, it is, but it also pays off. Instead of driving to get your morning coffee, can you walk? How else can you incorporate walking into your winter regimen? Perhaps your dinner plans are close enough to leave a bit early and walk there? I already walk a bunch, but this year I’ll be making even more of an effort to walk as much as possible.
Smart snacking
This is key. I’ve been snacking like crazy lately (hello, holiday spreads) and switching over to better snacks is a must. Think fresh fruit – pomegranate seeds have become a go-to, veggies & hummus, and nutrition bars, like ZonePerfect.
First of all, did you know that ZonePerfect has 14 different flavored nutrition bars? Talk about having a flavor for everyone. My favorites are the Fudge Graham and the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – it’s like a treat without the guilt. Especially because each bar has at least 10g of protein and 17-19 vitamins & minerals. That’s what we call a win, y’all.
Meal planning
Meal planning can be tedious, sure, but it’s been one of the best ways I’ve found to stay on track. Without meal planning, I end up constantly buying lunch when I’m at work, picking up food on my way home for dinner, and generally not even eating the groceries I’m buying. So, with 2017, I’m aiming to be even more intentional with my meal planning. I’m going to incorporate more veggies and lean protein, more one pan meals (minimizing clean up sure is an added perk), and plan ahead for nutritional snacks.
2017’s going to be a great year, I can already tell. It’s also going to be an intentional, healthy year. It’s something I’ve largely been putting off, so now it’s go time.
What are your plans & goals for 2017?
