The summer of 2017 was a whirlwind. One for the books, no doubt.
We put everything we own into storage and shipped it down to Atlanta, all the while crossing our fingers that everything made it safely.
The day after we did all of that (including packing up the kitchen since we foolishly didn’t start packing it up until THAT morning. Hint: don’t do that), we hopped on an overnight flight to Europe. For a month.
Spending a month in Europe was the best adventure to date. We lived and worked in the Netherlands, while also exploring Dublin, Berlin, and Barcelona. I’m not sure how I’ll top that – think we can make it a 2 month honeymoon?
Okay, that isn’t feasible, but it would be amazing.
Not only was our trip incredible, the timing for our trip was downright magical. I happened to finally be ready to upgrade my camera gear from a starter Nikon that I had for 6 years to a Canon 5D. After weeks of deliberation and research, I reached out to one of my gal pals who is a beyond talented photographer (and also my dream wedding photographer!), who not only suggested the Canon 5D, but also wrote out an entire email on why it would be the best fit for me. Can you tell she’s the best?
Long story short, I upgraded my camera gear right before our trip to Europe and I couldn’t have been more excited to gallivant around snapping as many photos as possible on my new (used!) gear – or as many as my cards could hold. And, I did exactly that.
Now that I have all these photos from our trip, I had no clue what to do with them. In fact, I’ve yet to even sift through them all – I’ll get there, I promise! More international city guides are coming your way real soon.
And, not only have I been procrastinating editing all the photos, I’ve also been procrastinating on decorating…well…for about 10 years or so. Oops. But this time, in our new home in Atlanta, I’m doing it. Really. We’re hanging things up on the walls, we’re buying furniture we love, and we’re making it feel like home.
For the first time ever, I ordered a beautifully framed photo. One of my own photos! I ordered this gorgeous gold brushed frame from Framebridge with one of our favorite photos from Utrecht in the Netherlands, where we lived for that glorious month. It was a month full of beautiful (read: cool) weather, attempting to learn and speak Dutch, and all the biking. Clearly it was a dream of a month. So naturally, we wanted to remember our favorite little city and all of its charming details.
Framebridge made it so easy to find a frame that I really loved. In fact, you can choose to select your own frame or answer a few quick and easy questions about your style preferences. I went with the latter and was sent 4 totally gorgeous frames that were hand selected by a Framebridge team member to pick from. I knew immediately that this brushed gold frame was it.
And all I had to do to select it was click one button.
And then it was on its way to me! Brilliant or what?
The Netherlands are known for their canals, and the ones in Utrecht did not disappoint for a second. We lived just minutes from several canals, so our morning walks around the city were filled with gorgeous views. So, we figured what better way to wake up than to see a huge photo of one of our favorite places? Even though our living room walls are still bare, our room is feeling like exactly that – ours.
Not a day goes by without a thought (or 10) about our magical month in Europe, and now we’re treated to our own little canal view right as we wake up and right as we’re falling asleep. Clearly, we’re learning quickly about doing a better job of savoring our travels – and decorating! Now where should we explore next? Scandinavia’s up there at the tippy top of my wish list.
