I’m going to let you in on a little secret.
I. Dislike. Popcorn.
I’m so sorry to all you popcorn lovers out there! I just don’t love it, I really don’t.
That’s right, when I go to the movies I don’t get buttery popcorn (GASP!)
However, I do owe it to you to be a bit more specific. I don’t like plain old buttery popcorn. Trust me, I know that still sounds crazy. I usually get a resounding WHAT whenever I say that in person.
BUT, I do love flavored popcorn. Oh and kettle corn and Christmas popcorn mixes, and all that delightful stuff. Back to the flavored popcorn thing though. Give me a bag of white cheddar popcorn and all bets are off, for sure. I know the servings per bag might be 3, or even 4, but it’s nearly too good to put down. It’s like you really can’t have just one bowl. I don’t even care how much white cheddar I get on my fingers while eating it.
You know what I do?
I lick it off. Why waste such delicious white cheddar flavoring? Go ahead, judge me. I still feel great about it.
Now, why is this the perfect evening snack?
Well, let’s talk about one of my favorites – SkinnyPop’s Aged White Cheddar popcorn. I try not to eat super heavy food late in the evening, so a light popcorn snack is ideal. Also it’s still full of salty, cheesy goodness – so that satisfies my cheese craving, because really, I crave a cheeseboard every day. Every. Day.
And, now that it’s nearly officially fall (on Friday! Can you even believe it?), I’m putting a fall twist on it thanks to SkinnyPop.
Don’t worry – the popcorn’s not changing! It’s still that delicious Aged White Cheddar.
Rather, I’m pairing it with a Cranberry Cinnamon Whiskey Sour, as inspired by SkinnyPop’s fall-inspired Popped and Paired duos. I did make a few changes to the cocktail – mostly because I was cutting back on sugar and couldn’t find fresh cranberries. Plus, I’ve also realized over the years that while I prefer strong cocktails with a little heat, I don’t love tart cocktails.
But that’s what’s so great about this whiskey sour – you can make it your own! I mixed together about 1/3 cup of orange juice, 2 oz of whiskey, juice from 1 lime, juice from 1/2 lemon, and water. I threw in some ice and topped it off with cinnamon sticks. Oh boy, those cinnamon sticks really smell like the start of fall.
What’s your favorite fall pairing? I’m starting to get SO excited for one of the best times of the year – fall…obviously.
