Whether you’re new to blogging or simply working on expanding your content, collaborating with brands might be on your wish list. It’s not always easy to jump in to though, so I wanted to share a few of my favorite tips to help get you started.
Do you want to monetize your blog through sponsored posts or connect with new partners? Or perhaps you want to begin partnering with airlines and hotels. There are a ton of different ways to collaborate with brands – here are three simple tips to either get you started or help you jumpstart your outreach.
Get creative! Switch up the classic review
Sure, I love to share a good review here and there, but instead, switch it up! Of course, you can still share a review, but add a new element. Personally, I like to provide 3-5 tips on how to best use that product. For example, I loved working with Jugos here in Boston and instead of simply reviewing their juices (which are unbelievably delicious), I wanted to help readers who were also interested in testing the waters with a juice cleanse understand how to get the most out of it.
Update (or create) your media kit
This is something to have handy if you’re going to begin collaborating with brands. Your media kit provides a quick overview on you and your blog. It should include your contact info, social media, current blog categories, and more. If this all new to you, don’t be intimidated! You can make it as simple as a one page document in Word or as sophisticated as a 10 page spread created in InDesign. If you have questions about creating a media kit, don’t hesitate to get in touch!
Ask the brand!
Find out what would be most beneficial to them. If they’re a brick-and-mortar, are they opening a new location that you can help promote via a post? If they’re online, do they have a new product line coming out that they could use help spreading the word about? If you really want to work with them, be open to new ideas! Sometimes getting a dialogue going is more beneficial than anything else.
