Visiting Arizona
Visiting Arizona was a little like what I thought it would be (HOT) and, also, so unlike what I thought it’d be (insanely beautiful).
I went out to Arizona for a long weekend because my husband has been spending a ton of time out there for work. I believe this last trip was his seventh full week in Phoenix. Crazy, eh?
He’s made the most out of this time there by exploring as much of Phoenix as possible; eating at the local restaurants, hanging at some nearby breweries, and even making some friends in town. So sweet, right?
So, after how much he’s talked about Phoenix and how much he enjoys being out there, I felt as though I just had to see it for myself. A few weeks later, what do you know? I was on a plane en route to the steamy southwest.
Steamy as in….112 degrees. That is not an exaggeration, truly. It was exactly 112 degrees.
But, oh boy, was it downright beautiful out there.
You know what? Beautiful doesn’t do it justice. The cacti were plentiful (so was the heat) and the scenery was idyllic. Travel wise, we spent a few days in Phoenix together before driving up to Flagstaff, via Sedona.
Those. Red. Rocks. Statuesque. Magical. And, imposing in the most breathtaking way.
The air felt crisper up in Flagstaff, but the Sedona landscape was beyond anything I could have imagined. It was the best kind of detour we could have taken. So much so, that I wouldn’t even call it a detour.
We stopped at Firecreek for breakfast sandwiches and lattes, and soaked in as much of the scenery as possible. Then, we took the windy route the rest of the way to Flagstaff for the afternoon. After that, it was back to Phoenix for us. It was one of those day trips that, when it’s over, you don’t really mind it having come to an end. For us, particularly, it was because we still had one more day of vacation. And, one more day in the cacti-riddled city of Phoenix.
Gosh, I could continue gushing about Arizona for days. So, let’s put a pause there.
I’m going to work on a full Weekend in Arizona post – what do you want to know? Any questions about visiting Arizona? Well, besides the simple fact that you should go there? And I mean, immediately.
