How to prep for your wedding weekend – including how to decide which hotel to stay in!

I honestly can’t believe that my very own wedding weekend is almost here! We’re 19 days and counting. AH!
A few weeks ago, I was home in Massachusetts for my bridal shower – sneak peeks below! And, more on that later! In fact, I had two because my dear friends here in Atlanta wanted to throw me one since it would be ludicrous to ask 15+ gals to fly all the way up to Massachusetts for a shower – aren’t they the best!?
I had the opportunity to stay at one of my favorite hotels in Cambridge – Kimpton Marlowe Hotel. It’s a gem of a hotel, located right on the water and with the most spectacular view of Boston sitting right across the river. The team also serves up daily happy hour in the lobby and honestly – if you’re giving me gratis wine when I walk into my hotel before dinner, you can BET you’ve caught my attention.
Anyways, I digress. While I was in Cambridge enjoying my stellar views, I had a thought – if I was getting married back home, the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel would have been the perfect spot to stay for the wedding weekend. And, then I got to thinking – if I’m spending all this time planning out my perfect (or as close to perfect as can be!) wedding weekend, more brides and grooms must be spending that same amount of time, too!
So, I thought to myself – hey why don’t I share what I’ve learned over the past few weeks with you to hopefully save you some time! Let’s get to it.
How to Prep for your Wedding Weekend
- Get a packing list going. I cannot stress this enough. Start your packing list early! The last thing you want to be doing a day or two before your wedding weekend is starting from scratching trying to remember everything you need to bring. Start a list and keep adding to it as you pick up more wedding details, select your favors, purchase accessories for the big day, etc.
- Find the perfect hotel for you and your wedding party. Assuming that your wedding party will be staying in the same hotel, it’s important to select your hotel based on location and availability. Figure out who is staying at the hotel with you and get those rooms booked early! Can you imagine if you left that to the last minute and the hotel was booked up? Ah that’d drive me nuts! I loved staying at Kimpton Marlowe Hotel and can’t get over how ideal it was for everything around Cambridge – and super quick access to Boston, too!
- Make it special. It’s the little details that count, you know? At least they are for me! Plan ahead if you have any special items that you want to be sure you have on hand – like perhaps your favorite photo of your soon-to-be husband or wife. Or maybe you love a certain breakfast and want to be sure you get to have that on your wedding day. Which, I suppose, would entail making sure you pick a hotel with an A-plus restaurant! Which while we’re talking about it, getting to have Bambara’s breakfast again, especially on my wedding day, would be divine. It’s at Marlowe! It’s so rare to find a hotel with totally impressive restaurant, and this one’s got it. Also, while we’re talking about details, how darn cute are those pillows Marlowe Hotel surprised me with?!
