Engaged? Here’s why you’ll want to hire a wedding planner.
It is SO easy to get lost in the wedding world.
Said wedding land is full of ideas, tablescapes, dresses, favors (anyone else tired of crappy favors?)…I could go on and on.
And you know it is too if you’re engaged or nearing that step. It feels nearly impossible to narrow everything down. I wanted to do everything, and then I wanted to do nothing because I felt like I was drowning in a white, floral sea.
Wedding planning is overwhelming in both good and bad ways. It’s a lot of logistical coordination, which you don’t always think about right away. It’s easy to get swept away in the magic of it all, which only makes the reality check that it’s a lot of work that much more difficult.
So, I’m here to share with you the best thing we did for ourselves while were planning our wedding.
We hired a wedding planner.
Now, I’ll be totally candid with you that we had help from one of our dear mutual friends, Kelly Golia, who is a brilliant wedding designer and planner. She pretty much singlehandedly dreamed up our wedding’s color palette, florals, and so much more. If you’re reading this, thank you, Kelly!
This meant that we felt comfortable hiring a planner to help us with month-of coordination rather than full wedding planning. Though, to be honest, if I could go back and do it all over again I would more likely than not have hired our planners for FULL planning. It would have saved us so much time and so many headaches over the year of planning (meetings with vendors, logistical decisions, etc.)
But, that’s not necessarily in everyone’s budget, right? So at the bare minimum, I highly highly recommend hiring a planner to assist with month-of coordination. And, let me be frank. Day-of coordination is not really a thing. You need to be working with your coordinator in advance of your wedding week! Can you even imagine that headache if you started working with your planner just days before your big day? You’ll want to pull all your hair out!
What you DO want, is for them to have built relationships with your other vendors, nearly memorized your wedding weekend timeline, familiarized themselves with the venue, and so so much more.
A planner’s help is invaluable. Our planner kept me 100% sane during our wedding day and I still can’t thank her enough for that.
If you’re in the Atlanta area, we worked with Christine and the Detailed I Do’s team and I cannot rave about them enough. They were so wonderful and despite me expecting a ton of them, they still somehow completely over-delivered.
And, if you’re in New England (or elsewhere – she travels!), connect with Kelly Golia. She’s a dream. Tell her I sent you!
