Citrus avocado toast because who doesn’t love avocado toast?
I could eat avocado toast every day.
And, I could eat citrus avocado toast for every meal.
I’m not kidding! I don’t think I’ll ever tire of it. Or….at least I hope not. That’d be a real tragedy.
I love making my avocado toast all different ways. Sometimes I eat it plain with a little sea salt and pickled red onions, and other times I’m loading that baby up with eggs, mesclun, hot sauce…the whole shebang.
This one is all about paying homage to the shift from winter to spring with end of season citrus. Gosh I just love when citrus season rolls around (don’t get me wrong, watermelon and berry season is fab, too!), there’s something so cozy and sweet about cold weather and blood oranges.
Maybe it’s just me. If it’s not, please let me know!
This particular toast has those beautifully pink winter cara cara oranges with a new spring/summer favorite: Gooseberries.
Have you had them before? I only discovered them this year and I’m in love! Now I’m buying a container each time they’re in stock at Trader Joe’s. Yikes. If you see them in your local grocery store, pick them up! They’re so unique and tasty and well….pretty (ha!).

See?! It’s not too difficult to make fancy avocado toast at home!
Yet…I still love buying it when I’m out. I think there’s something special about someone else making food for you. Does this mean I’m lazy or that I enjoy food as an art (and sustenance) while I’m out and about?
Either way, it’s delicious.
What’s the one food YOU could eat every day?
