Creating a weekly meal plan can be difficult. But, it doesn’t always have to be that way. All you need are the right tools.
Let’s be real, I’m no meal planning expert. I’m actually still figuring it out myself. What I did find so far though was that having a notepad to write down all of my meals for the week was a life saver.
It also helped that I started cooking for two instead of one, recently!
I want to make more of an effort to properly plan each week (and stick to it!), so I sought out tips for meal planning and found some great ones. My main problem was that I was buying an unreasonable amount of groceries and starting from zero every single night.
It was absurd! I was spending so much, wasting so much time, and then throwing out a bunch of food because I simply couldn’t eat it all. We’re still not pros at meal planning, but I think we’re getting better.
Not starting from zero was my favorite tip from The Kitchn. It was also the most eye-opening. Why should I be making five totally different meals for dinner each week with none of the same ingredients when I could utilize what I already had? I felt foolish. But, I’m working on it! That’s what matters, right?
If you want more tips on meal planning from “the pros”, here’s another article from The Kitchn with 15 tips for better weekly meal planning.
DOWNLOAD: Download your very own printable here! If you only want to print off one, laminate it (flashback to elementary school, anyone?) and use a dry erase marker! You can also pick up a small magnet from any craft/home story and leave it front and center on your fridge.
You can even use it to plan out a few weekly açai bowls like this tropical one! So, what are your favorite tips for weekly meal planning?

We build in certain nights that are always one thing. Like Tuesdays we both get off really late so we already know that’s our one take out night for the week. Saturday is crock pot night so we can eat on it all weekend. And there are certain things that I cook regularly so when we’re stuck and don’t want to try something new, I know I have the things in the pantry to make it.
Oh I like that a lot! We’re starting to find our groove with lunches and dinners 🙂
